INTRODUCTION

By learning a different language and living in the country where it is spoken, students develop a deeper understanding of the world through the exploration of another language and culture and gain confidence and independence.

OVERVIEW
The SIAF Italian Language Courses in Volterra are designed for students interested in studying the Italian Language in a more intimate Italian setting. The SIAF campus is located just outside the beautiful Etruscan city of Volterra. An exceptional town of great historic importance, Volterra offers its students and visitors the benefits of a vibrant and cultural experience, whilst the campus enjoys the tranquillity of its unrivalled setting amongst the breathtaking landscape of Tuscany.

Students will attend the language classes in the morning and will explore the city during the afternoon, through various cultural activities (i.e. museum visits, field trips, cooking classes) that also offer the opportunity to interact with the locals and use the Italian language.

During free time, the campus facilities (gym, swimming pool, tennis and football court) are also available.

LANGUAGE CLASSES
Our courses are taught by highly experienced Italian instructors, specialized in teaching Italian as a second language at an academic level. The teaching style combines the use of different approaches and tools, thus making the learning process effective and enjoyable at the same time.

The reading, listening, writing and speaking skills are implemented and developed through different inputs and practices (e.g. articles, videos, films, songs, strategic interaction, debates, project works, use of the web technology and other hands-on activities) in a motivating and creative environment.

We offer Italian courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels.

Beginners Level:
this course is an introduction to spoken and written Italian, with a particular emphasis on practical conversation. Students will be able to write, read and listen to simple texts on present, past and future events, and to communicate on familiar and habitual topics using the vocabulary of daily life. (A1-A2 Common European Framework Reference Levels)

Intermediate Level:
this course will develop the students' ability to read, understand and give clear descriptions on a wide range of familiar personal and professional topics and to develop ideas with additional elements. They will be able to express opinions on current events, explaining pros and cons of the various options. (B1-B2 Common European Framework Reference Levels)

Advanced Level:
this course aims to increase the students' ability to understand, read and write many different types of texts (from colloquial to literary styles) and to express themselves in long discourses with fluency. They will extend their ability to fully comprehend native speakers' speech and the socio-linguistic and socio-cultural implications and to respond in an appropriate manner.
